And this date means that we have come to the finish line for registrations to participate in the Open Studios Weekend. Not as many as I had hoped but I am grateful for those members who are able to participate and, in a sense, be guinea-pigs! Let’s show the world how an almost paperless Open Studios works … uniquely environmentally friendly.
In the process of researching the workings of a properly run Open Studios event, I came across several really good ideas. One of them would work beautifully here in Cyprus.
In 2016 and beyond, I will be working towards engaging artists all over Cyprus for each year’s event and thought it would be a good idea to have one weekend per region, i.e. Larnaca, Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos, and how about Kyrenia on the 5th weekend. The other lesson learned this year is to use October rather than September, mainly because of August being largely a holiday month and lots of people being away at that time of year. Also, printers, framers and other businesses tend to take time out over August.
We have also encountered difficulties with the transfer of images for the website, especially high resolution ones to be used in printed materials. For your convenience, below is what the screen looks like when you first click on the link http://www.wetransfer.com (screen 1) – just click on ‘Skip’ and go to the next screen (screen 2) and fill in the details, attach the files to be transferred and hit ‘Transfer’. No passwords. No registration. Piece of cake – ignore the big-eyed monsters!
